The following information is of critical importance. Please read through this carefully.

A fire alarm can be initiated by activation or operation of any smoke or heat detectors or “break glass” alarm devices in a public/common area. “Break Glass” alarm devices consist of a small red “box” with a push button behind a small piece of protective glass. This is located on the Fire Indicator Panel.

In the event that the system is activated, a signal is transmitted through the Early Warning Indicator System (EWIS) throughout the whole development. All electrically locked gates will be unlocked, and an alarm signal is transmitted to the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of WA (FESAWA), or Fire Brigade.

The EWIS alarm continues to be broadcast until they are switched off by attending FESAWA personnel. FESAWA personnel are able to either switch the warning signal transmission off, or deliver emergency instructions. On hearing an alarm tone in a common/public area, immediately evacuate the building. In the event of a fire alarm and evacuation, do not return to your apartment until FESAWA (or the Strata Manager) has advised that it is safe to do so.

The fire alarm system will be tested periodically according to statutory regulations. In the event of a false or test alarm, FESAWA will arrive to turn off the alarm. FESAWA will then contact the Strata Manager to notify them of the alarm.

If you happen to see fire or smoke before the smoke/heat detectors or fire sprinklers have been activated, telephone the emergency services. The smoke alarm installed in your apartment is stand-alone and is not part of the fire alarm system installed through the building.

IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY DO NOT USE THE LIFTS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH EMERGENCY ESCAPE ROUTES, STAIRS AND EXITS.
